Spontaneous Angioedema Symptoms

Some of the most common symptoms of Spontaneous Angioedema include :-
  • Swelling of the face and lips
  • Swelling to eyes or eyelids
  • Swelling of the hands and feet
  • Swelling of the tongue or throat (not common)

Spontaneous Angioedema Diagnosis

Though in most cases we do not find a cause, it is useful to do the following investigations:
  • Blood tests, focusing on the immune system
  • Urine tests
  • Stool tests

Spontaneous Angioedema Treatment

Most forms of Angioedema tend to self-resolve in two to three years.
Currently, unless we find a cause that can be treated, the aim of medication is to control symptoms and improve quality of life.
Most commonly, we use antihistamines, with frequency and dose tailored to each child and their symptoms.
In some cases other medication, like Omalizumab, might be needed.
